Catalog Course Description
Advanced computer applications focusing on topics such as web page development,
data analysis, graphing, databases, and on-line experimentation and data collection.
Prerequisites: Psychology 201 (Elementary Statistics) and Psychology 300 (Computer
Applications in Psychology) or the equivalents
Course Objectives:
- Create personal web pages
- Add interactive content to web pages
- Create cgi programs to collect data from web pages
- Create an online survey or experiment
- Collect data online
- Learn how to transfer data from a server to Excel, SPSS, and R for analysis
- Learn how to conduct statistical analyses and graph results using Excel, SPSS, and R
- Understand the experimental issues involved with online data collection
- Understand the ethical issues involved with online data collection
- Learn about ways to present material online
- Practice presenting research orally
